Enjoyed strolling the district with Deb this week. We were doing some consulate work with our documents, and stayed overnight.
We were met with sunny warm-ish weather, providing the perfect little getaway. It’s only 3 1/2 hrs from our place in PA.
The buildings remind me of Greece, as well as Russia and Ukraine, imposing, larger than life, very old worldly. They speak of stability, power, and yet, this country is still so young! 245 years since the declaration of independence. We enjoyed the Smithsonian.
We didn’t enjoy the strict mask and vaccine passport mandates for all indoor dining – was not prepared for being locked out of the many indoor cafes. Sad! Gives you a taste of what the rest of the US would look like if this administration had its way. Eerily Canadian.
